Public Art Installation

Call for Submissions

Are you, or do you know, an artist, interested in sharing their artistic talents in the public realm?  Interested in expressing what Tillsonburg means to you through a stunning permanent installation as the centrepiece of our Mall?

Tillsonburg Town Centre Mall with support from the Tillsonburg Station Arts Centre invite artists based in Tillsonburg and Area to apply to design circular art works for three translucent circles that will be hung from the centre of the Mall  that will:

​

  • Activate Downtown Tillsonburg with exciting public art while creating a unique and inviting artistic atmosphere for those that shop our Centre

  • Attract new customers to local businesses through creative art installations.

  • Reflect the unique and growing community while encouraging exploration throughout Tillsonburg

Project Details

 

This is a Tillsonburg and Oxford County Area competition for visual and mixed-media artists who work in 2 Dimensional mediums to create a unique, one of a kind design highlighting “What Tillsonburg Means to them” .

Through a community-focused Selection Panel, the Tillsonburg Station Arts Centre  will select 3 (three) winning submission artists who will have their design concept vinyl reproduced to adhere to 4 circular installation pieces (3 circles per artist) that will be creatively hung in the centre of the Mall as a permanent and inviting installation. They will be featured in Tillsonburg Newspaper with Chris Abbott, featured in the Downtown Tillsonburg Newsletter, Tillsonburg Station Arts Centre newsletter and Town of Tillsonburg social media sites. The chosen designs will also be used for promotional material for the Salthill for marketing purposes of the Tillsonburg Town Centre Mall.

 

This project aims to celebrate the vibrant and unique history and culture of Tillsonburg and what it means to live in this wonderful community.
